Participation Gymnastics

Our participation department is a new program within Citadel and it is run by our participation managers, Shauna and Emmalei.
The aim of this program is to bridge the gap between recreational and competitive gymnastics. It is a program designed to give gymnasts more opportunities such as competitions, events, and fun days with other clubs.
This department is designed to let gymnasts try a new discipline, and train competitively without having to commit to the hours of a competitive group.
This program is designed for gymnasts of all abilities from beginners to advanced, and is for primary school children from 5 years old, all the way up to adults of all ages who would like to take part in external competitions and events.

Classes within participation

GymSTART and Aspire
GymSTART is a fantastic programme that is designed to allow any gymnast, regardless of age or ability, to take part in and enjoy gymnastics. The programme is built around personal achievement and all levels of achievement are celebrated.
Aspire is a two-piece competition held in Northern Ireland, that gives gymnasts who are strong on floor and vault the opportunity to compete in a bigger competition in an out of club setting. This class helps build confidence and gives gymnasts an insight into the competitive world.

Jumpstart
Jumpstart is a discipline-focused events programme that provides recreational gymnasts with the opportunity to compete in more than one discipline.
-Tumbling
In our tumbling JumpSTART class, gymnasts will get the chance to practise tumbling routines and get into the world of TeamGym, where they will be training trampette and vault.
-Acro
In our Acro JumpSTART class, gymnasts will get the chance to practise short Acro routines as a team with partner and group balances, and choreography.

GFA
Gymnastics For All (GFA) is a discipline that utilises gymnastics skills alongside Acro, Rythmic and Dance to perform group floor displays. This class is ideal for any gymnast who likes to perform and can’t wait to show the world what they can do. Gymnasts who take part in GFA will get to dress up in various costumes and travel to different events across the country and beyond. Gymnasts will learn to be part of a team and are expected to take part in all events.

If you are signing up for any of these events, there will be some additional commitments and expenses that you will need to consider.

Commitments:
– Turning up on time for class every week
– Communication with class coaches / participation managers if you will not make it to class / an event ahead of time
– Attending all events and paying entry fees on time
– Travelling to different places for events and competitions
– Gymnasts having neat hair and wearing proper gear to all events

Potential expenses:
– Class fees
– Competition/event fees and spectator ticket fees
– Citadel training leotard and jacket (and bottoms)
– Travel expenses
